dc.description.abstract Health research studies are the most effective and scientific way to find treatments or plan programs that can help prevent, treat, or cure a variety of health problems. However, these studies can only benefit the health of populations that are invited to and are willing to participate. Ethnic and racial minorities not only experience many health disparities, but are also less likely to participate in these health research studies. This study will review the results of 13 different articles that analyze methods for recruiting and retaining the Hispanic population in health research. Successful techniques include building relationships with the Hispanic community, providing sufficient information about the studies, preparing English and Spanish language materials, and making various other cultural considerations. While many techniques for recruiting and retaining minorities are often employed, a greater effort is still necessary to recognize and utilize the techniques that are successful particularly for the Hispanic culture. en_US
