Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if university recreation employees represent their respective university's enrollment in terms of gender and race. Respondents were university recreation professionals that were able to provide demographics of their employees. These respondents are all from institutional members of the NIRSA's Region III. Twenty-five of 51 self-constructed surveys mailed were returned for a return rate of 49%. The results of the study were analyzed using chi-square tests and descriptive analysis. In terms of gender in the NIRSA's Region III , part-time professional employees, undergraduate supervisors, and undergraduate employees proved to not represent the region's student enrollment while full-time professional employees, graduate assistants, and interns did coincide with enrollment statistics. In terms of race, full-time professional employees, part-time professional employees, and graduate assistants proved to not represent the region's student enrollment while interns, undergraduate supervisors, and undergraduate employees did coincide with enrollment statistics.
