dc.description.abstract A Pattern Language Exploration represents not a product, a finished design, but rather an experience. It involves a product, a suburban housing project in Evansville, Indiana, but primarily as a media for education. The drawings in the front of this document present, in an abstract way, the beginning of a healthy neighborhood: a square, a community center, a construction workshop with support facilities, an architect’s office, and several dwellings. The log which follows presents a trial and error search for an understanding of an alternative design and construction process which is capable of bringing them to life.
