Abstract

The primary purpose of this fifth year Thesis Project was to increase the awareness of the Fort Wayne community of the potential historic, economic and cultural role that Lawton Park (in combination with Science Central, the YWCA, the Rivergreenway Trail, the Historic Fort Wayne, the proposed Railway Museum, Headwaters Park, Friemann Square, the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre and Museum of Art) can play in the community. Certain programmatic elements to be incorporated in the re-design of Lawton Park and the surrounding property were identified after careful analysis of the present site conditions and current user groups. These specific design elements were then combined into the formation of a comprehensive masterplan.
