Abstract

The design will focus around developing a project that embodies environmental consciousness, embraces the community, and expands a leaning environment. These three aspects to development of a sub-urban community will influence buildings which can stand as precedents to positive community development. The building will be an Art Center located just north of the current construction project of the Civic Center. The main progammatic goals of the Art Center is; Exhibition, Education, and Recreation. However, it will also take on a concept of a "gateway" and the stepping stone to Calomel's "At District." The center will house a number of galleries both permanent and temporary: for the local artist or high school display, and will utilize a multitude of amenities for the desired mixed-use development. It is my position; if a development must occur that it should address community growth and focus on redeveloping with consideration to the environment. Furthermore the bribing should enlighten its visitors to good development, and encompass a bared environment for the community. The schedule s organized around a basic outline of addressing main design goals, researching, and finally implementation. Research and conceptual thinking, are desirably to be completed at the end of the fall semester. Upon which, the project will move in to design development phase, execution of design goals, and the final production for the presentation. Consequently, it is my desire to design a community development that focuses on smart redevelopment within the community, influence the community to make smart design decisions, and incorporates environmentally conscious detailing.
