Abstract:
Beethoven's Sonata No. 5 in F major for violin and piano exhibits the influences
of Mozart and Haydn, yet he introduces many new ideas. In this project, Beethoven’s
new ideas of musical composition introduced in his Sonata No.5, in terms of the musical
form, texture, key relationships, and dialogue, are discussed in their relations to his later
works. These new ideas together with the influences of Mozart and Haydn exhibited in
Sonata No. 5 truly indicate that Beethoven was in an important stage of his musical
metamorphosis, in which he developed his own style and character. His new approaches
for music composition have pivotal roles for his later works.
