dc.description.abstract This creative project concentrates itself on the life of Tom Quick, a Pennsylvanian "Indian Killer" who lived during the 18th century. This creative project covers Tom's life from his boyhood to his mid-forties, specifically exploring the process of how a person could grow from an innocent child to an unrepentant mass murderer. Tom's boyhood is examined, particularly his relationships with his siblings, his father, and his Lenape neighbors. His worst recorded act -- the murder of an entire Lenape family, including two children and an infant -- acts as the frame through which his upbringing is told. Although strongly based in research, the project takes many creative risks, deviating from recorded history several times in order to tell a more cohesive story about Tom's life.
