Abstract:
This creative project presents a historical overview and brief analysis of three chamber
works for wind band. The study explains the general information that has been discovered through the score study of Canzon duodecimi toni by Giovanni Gabrieli, Overture for Winds, Op. 24 by Felix Mendelssohn, and Serenade for Winds, Op. 7 by Richard Strauss. Each composition and the biographies of the composers are presented in single chapters. This study is intended to be a reference guide in preparation for rehearsals and performances, as well as a pedagogical tool for conductors as a resource for study. The document serves to accompany a conducting recital of the wind chamber works.
