Abstract:
Communities are made up of many different elements. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of a community is having a physical place for residents to share and use together. The Village of Indian Hill resides in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a small community made up of houses, churches, and schools. The community itself does not allow businesses to establish in the area, most likely due to the amount of traffic it would produce. Therefore, there is no central space to bring the community together and connect residents with one another.
I have decided to focus my project on researching areas that could serve as effective community town squares in Indian Hill. The skills I have learned in my major of Urban Planning will assist me in my research and development of a suitable 'town square' for the area of Indian Hill. Though my project is hypothetical, I want to treat it as though it will actually be implemented. The finished product will be a document that includes a series of charts, maps, pictures, and other various elements that analyze the possibility of the creation of a town square in the heart of Indian Hill.
