Abstract:
Change and the passage of time are completely unstoppable forces, and can be so overwhelming that one may find him or herself tempted to give in to the notion that life is random and rambling. However, using art and critical thinking, it is possible to link together seemingly naive and random choices in life to show bigger movement and personal growth than what was realized at the time. Using songs I have written over the past four years, I will piece together the story of my college to career to show that it was more than just random notes and words strung together. My hope is that others will gain a new avenue for reflection through connections they make to the music during the live performance of these songs} or while listening to their recorded versions in the included CD. For my written component, I will discuss each song in depth from a lyrical and musical standpoint to show my growth throughout the years.
