Abstract:
Robert Garnier was perhaps the preeminent sixteenth-century French playwright,
and his work, La Troade, has never been translated into English. Garnier's work shows the influence of Classical tradition in French Renaissance arts, and it also shows literary mastery of the sixteenth-century. This translation of the second act will be compiled with fellow students' work to provide a full translation in intelligible English so that it may be more widely studied and appreciated. This project requires an immense amount of careful interpretation and translation of the original text from Middle French to colloquial English.
