Abstract:
Visual communication is a fundamental part of how today's culture receives information in alternative formats. Information graphics allow news consumers to view more visual, less written content for a higher degree of retention and usability. I was able to actively partcipate in data visualization and visual communication through my work with BSU at the Games and the Chicago Tribune for both the London 2012 and Sochi 2014 Olympics. The work I produced during both experiences allowed me to expand on my knowledge of information layering, visual communication and the design principles that allow information graphics to be successfully accepted by their viewers. BSU at the Games transformed my journalistic career and provided me with the skills I need to further dedicate my future to being a visual journalist.
