Abstract:
Watson Analytics is a cloud-based analytical software that allows users to import their own data or find data from other sources to be analyzed by Watson in order to detect patterns, relationships, anomalies, and other information about the data. In this thesis presentation I examined the major functionalities of Watson Analytics and its current and future uses within the accounting industry with the intention of surmising how this software can best be used within the industry. I also explain how to use the software with responsibility and integrity, as it would be possible to misconstrue numbers and assign fictional meanings to relationships found by Watson without practicing professional judgement and due care within the analysis of Watson's findings.
