Abstract

My graduate creative project was about bringing Key Log Rolling to Ball State University. Currently, I oversee the aquatics in the department of Recreation Services for the university, and I was inspired to complete this project because I am very interested in the company, Key Log Rolling, and believe the sport of log rolling and the equipment they have worked to design would be a great addition to the current aquatic offerings to enhance the experience of current patrons and appeal to new users. In this project I discuss the history of log rolling and how Key Log Rolling revamped the sport, and then I talk about how to properly onboard these products into a variety of programming. I discussed how to properly train staff and created a sample document of the steps staff running the program would need to do to ensure the products are used safely and efficiently. I believe there is a wide variety of programming that could benefit from bringing Key Log Rolling to Ball State University and that includes open recreational time, intramural sports, Outdoor Pursuits workshops and clinics, swim lessons for youth and families, student sport clubs, as well as rentals and collaborations to benefit the campus community. I hope that after all of this research and proposed programming I can work to bring what this company has to offer to the Ball State community and begin enhancing our cross campus collaboration and the student experience when it comes to recreation.
