Abstract:
One of the most challenging phonemes to articulate in the English language is /r/. In addition, /r/
is one of the most difficult phonemes to treat due to the complex production of the sound. To aid
in the treatment for this phoneme, I have written and illustrated a children’s book that focuses on
the various placements of /r/. I combined my passion for art and speech pathology into a book
that can be used by both speech-language pathologists and parents to help their child’s
communication. The range of story topics and reading levels included in my book will allow
children from a multitude of ages practice articulating /r/ in single words and connected speech.
