Abstract
Rural communities often receive the least architectural attention. This thesis explores the design of an AgroHub with multiple programs to provide sustainability learning and food-related amenities to a rural community. The AgroHub program demonstrates the full life-cycle of plants through a farm-to-table garden and restaurant, a farmer’s market, and a composting facility. This multi-program design will offer educational opportunities to local rural communities and provide a diverse set of resources relating to sustainability practices. Architecture can cohesively exist in the rural environment with a multiprogram AgroHub that provides fresh produce, agricultural education, and amenities. The resulting design uses the program’s relationships to demonstrate education while serving people’s needs with amenities. The versatile mix of programs servicing the community is what drives the AgroHub design and experience for guests.
