Abstract:
This paper deals with the study of the effects of token reinforcements in altering nonattending behaviors for completion and correctness of arithmetic assignments of a seven year old second grade student at a local laboratory school. Criteria were established for target behaviors of the subject. Tokens (stars) were used as reinforcers. A certain number of tokens could be exchanged for tangible rewards. At the end of the token reinforcement program, the study shows that the nonattending behavior of the subject improved significantly and her task performances also improved dramatically as a result of token reinforcement.
