Abstract:
The two-fold problem of this study is: First, how does a school corporation decide upon the process by which its curriculum is to be written and, second, how is the process applied to writing an art curriculum? The focus will be on how one school system went about creatively revising and improving a curriculum for its art program for grades one through 12. Components of this paper incorporate informational research; important issues in the process of writing curriculum; who was involved; what roles they played; undesirable conditions in the current written curriculum; the process by which the committee arrived for improving the current curriculum; and an evaluation of the overall process. Included in the appendixes are copies of informational materials the committee used to revise their current curriculum, the old middle school curriculum, and the new curriculum.
