The purpose of this study was to determine if burnout in Certified Athletic Trainers was a real problem facing the profession today. From this study, 37 Certified Athletic Trainers were able to complete a survey entitled "Burnout in Certified Athletic Trainers." The first research question addressed whether there was a difference on a professional level with Certified Athletic Trainers who experience burnout. There was no difference found between the two groups. Research question two addressed if personality played a part in burnout and the coping strategies used among the Certified Athletic Trainers. It was found that personality did play an important role in determining who may experience burnout and which individuals may not experience this problem. Although not a research question in this study, the researcher found that salary played a part in whether someone may or may not experience burnout.
