Abstract:
The World Wide Web has the potential of offering the ESL teacher a tremendous amount of authentic English language resources in the format of text, sound, and video. However, unfortunately, the Web, due to its disorganization, lack of task-focusedness, and userunfriendliness, does not present itself in a format which is suitable for the pedagogical needs and aspirations of the ESL environment. This creative project analyzes these inherent weaknesses of the World Wide Web and proposes a solution, in the form of the teacher's homepage, to overcome these weaknesses. This project then goes on to model a homepage directed toward high-intermediate ESL students at an American IEP (Intensive English Program) and explains how these Web activities work and how they can be integrated into the ESL classroom environment.
