Abstract

Within the broad range of subjects which Virginia Woolf examined in her critical writings there are extensive references to two of her concepts: the nature of androgynous reality as she understood it, and the role of creative womanhood in the twentieth century. The question arises as to the extent to which Virginia Woolf allowed the views she held concerning these concepts to influence the development of women characters in her novels. This research paper explores and responds to that question.
