In spite of many recent developments in medicine, there still remains a paucity of knowledge in the treatment of bites of venomous animals. It is the writert’s contention that this is unnecessary, especially in relation to vaccines for such venomous bites. This indeed is the problem - there is no vaccine for protection against the bite of a poisonous animal such as a rattlesnake. Currently, only serum is available. This is of value only after a bite has occurred. In view of this lack of a means for giving advance immunity, the experimenter began to investigate the development of a suitable vaccine.
