dc.description.abstract This project consists of the following five short stories: "A Farm Story," "The Awakening," "Escape," "The Lake Country," and "Zac." The stories were not forced into any particular thematic structure but, rather, illustrate the development of individuals confronted with circumstances which reveal their personalities and the personalities of those around them in the hopes of enlightening the reader in some aspect of life. The project also includes an analysis of the major technical problems--such as point of view, imagery, and dialogue-encountered while writing each of the stories with an evaluation of the techniques used to deal with these problems.
