Abstract:
The purpose of the study was twofold: what are the basic needs of the user population of a Total Lifestyle Center home page on the World Wide Web, and what administration issues at Ball State University have to be addressed in the creation and management of a new home page on the web. Two different data sets were used in this study. Interviews with four different professionals were used to gain technical and management recommendations. Ball State University has an advanced technology system, and all web publishers can launch their own web page through the Ball State University network system. Also, Ball State University requires guidelines for any official university web page in the creation process. Also, a needs assessment of student users was used to identify potential strategies for the target audience. The survey results showed that students would like to gain general health information from a TLC home page, and they want to use the web page for personal interest and class assignments. A TLC web page should be designed to look professional and provide current information, but it also should be fun and easy to use. The recommendations suggest that developing a web page is simple process, and it may be beneficial for TLC and the campus community.
