Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible visual situations in which clothespins could be successfully incorporated. A series of aesthetic experiments were performed using the clothespin as the major compositional element in works of art. The proposed work consisted of construction of several organizational structures and/or sculptural pieces using the clothespins in conjunction with some type of space frame. These space frames set the parameters for the designs, served as either container forms or surfaces to build on, and were built out of either wood, plastic or fiber. Each supporting or underlying structure worked in combination with the clothespins to from a total design unit.
