Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the satisfaction of collegiate sport club members based on coach status model. Collegiate sport club members completed the Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaire (ASQ) (Riemer & Chelladurai, 1998). The data was then grouped by what type of coach the members had during the season (player, student, or non-student coach). Data was then analyzed by single factor ANOVA tests and 12 of the 14 null hypotheses were affirmed. There was a significant difference in levels of satisfaction in the categories of budget and external agents (fan, university, and community support) between the player coach group and the other two groups. The results of this study also showed that despite most categories not reporting significant statistical differences, collegiate sport club members are as a whole somewhat to mostly satisfied with their experiences. These collegiate club members reported more satisfaction than varsity athletes who have also taken the ASQ.
