Project name: Chicago Lakefront Stadium Project location: Chicago, IllinoisClient: Chicago Lakefront Sports. Authority-joint venture by the City of Chicago, the metropoliton area governments, and the State of Illinois. Users: Major tenants are the Chicago Bears (professional football) and the Chicago White Sox (professional baseball).Major program elements,: Stadium for the viewing of football (80,000 spectators),and baseball (60,000 spectators), and adequate parking to serve the stadium. Required support facilities for spectators, media, teams, concessions, and maintenance. Project site: Stadium to be located near south loop/lakefront area. Site is bounded on the west by Michigan Avenue, on the east by Lakeshore Drive, and on the south by 14th Street.Urban context: Located near extensive expressway and mass transit systems. East: Lake Michigan, Lake Shore Drive, McCormack Place, Field Museum of Natural History, Adler Planetarium, and Shedd Aquarium. North: Grant Park, the Loop, and Roosevelt Road.West: South Branch of the Chicago River, railroads, manufacturing, and warehousing.
