Abstract:
Greek-Letter organizations have been attributed to fostering leadership and communication skills amongst undergraduate college students as well as relationships and support networks. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to examine and describe how undergraduate students at Ball State University who were current members of historically African American fraternities and sororities have been affected in the areas of leadership skills and intercultural communications, intercultural relations and intercultural support. The researcher used qualitative methodology for the study. Ten undergraduate students involved in historically African American Greek-Letter organizations were interviewed and five concepts and nineteen themes emerged. The five concepts included leadership skills, intercultural communication, intercultural relationships, intercultural support and life skills.
