Department:Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services
Abstract:
This study assesses career guidance services students perceive from their guidance counselors as well as takes a look at their aspirations after high school. A 17 item questionnaire developed by the investigator was administered to 954 juniors and seniors in four secondary schools in Indiana. Results indicated that students consult parents, teachers, peers and adult friends to discuss career plans before seeking counselor guidance. Students also felt their guidance department provided sufficient information and help concerning vocational plans, and 72% of students surveyed indicated a desire to pursue a career after graduation.
