The purpose of this survey was to compile information on the background and experience of NCAA division I head baseball coaches. The survey sought information in areas of personal data, education, coaching experience, and personal playing experience. The survey was distributed to 56 coaches with 42 returns, representing six conferences in six separate regions of the country. The data collected was totaled and averaged to give national and regional scores. The six regions were compiled into three larger regions for purposes of comparisons. The results of the survey revealed that NCAA division I head baseball coaches average 46 years of age with a master's degree and 21 years of baseball coaching experience with 14 of those years at the division I level. These coaches also have personal playing experience at a minimum of the collegiate level. |
