Abstract

Classical Chinese water garden is a unique garden type. However its design theories are in danger of extinction. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop research which will document and summarize the principles of Chinese water garden design.This project is concerned with exploring the basic principles of classical Chinese garden, particularly its water features design, and documenting those through the planning of a Chinese classic water garden in Chicago Botanical Garden. Such garden would be an excellent educational tool, since this would enable visitors to see the garden in its physical form. This would make some inquisitive to learn principles behind this physical form.
