Abstract:
Scientism reigns as a reality that has severed mind and spirit. The senses have become symptoms of man's cognitive will; the images we see are meger replicas of eternal forms which have lost their plasticity to a dismembered eye of the soul.Values of judgement are based on one's concept of reality. Thus, the intent of this thesis is to constract with truth to myself and the ontological form of our species "a" frame of reality that can be transformed into an architectural means. The object of this thesis is to assimilate and understand the faculties that compose a wholistic being and asscribe to them an architecture condusive to the realization of the individual and a culture's human potential.Reality is a psychic phenomenon whose content (the image) is indistinguishable from form (the psyche). The world is a system of sensation. Every sensation is subjected to an unconscious faculty which transforms the stimulus to the view of the perceiver's psyche. The objectivity of the image is removed by the subjectivity of self. Imagination in this sense, becomes the mechanism of a being's totally which lies in the essense of the act of dreaming. The primary datum of life is not the Cartesian cognito "I think" but the sum "I am." Architecture thus becomes a psychic phenomenon that allows projection or stimulates either consciously or unconsciously a Naracissistic union of body, psychic, and soul. Through the study of the essence of dreaming/imagination, I hope to realize a physical and spiritual form that stimulates the possibility of a wholistic self.
