Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine attitudes toward physical education and physical activities between American and Asian students at Ball State University. Subjects were selected from Asian students (n=50) and American students (n=50). Wear's (1951) Physical Education Attitude Inventory Short Form was utilized in this investigation. Pearson's correlation, mean t-test, and factorial ANOVA were applied in the date analysis procedures. The results in this study indicated that subjects of both groups showed similar trends of responses to all the questions. However, when comparing the two groups of subjects, the differences were found in 19 factors. The American subjects seemed to have more positive attitudes toward physical education and physical activities than the Asian subjects. The study showed that cultural differences affected attitudes toward physical education and physical activities.
