Abstract:
The economic and political reform in China provides a big opportunity for nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to develop, which will ultimately help a civil society to be established.Legal restrictions, lack of expenditures, and imperfect management prevent Chinese NGOs from growing healthily and rapidly. Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) in the United States are categorized as the third sector beside the government and business. They have played a more and more important role in the US toward the goal of welfare society. Although the two countries have different social systems and cultures, the experience of the United States nonprofit sector achievements is still relevant to the growth of Chinese NGOs. This study is a primary comparative research because the raw materials and data about Chinese NGOs are limited, further research on these issues is needed.KeywordsNGO management, comparative study, China and the United States
