Nurses must have skills to access and process information in today's high-tech hospitals. Some nurses may lack the knowledge and skills to use computer programs in hospitals. Knowledge, attitudes and motivation may influence computer use and satisfaction of nurses (Burkes, 1991). The purpose of this study is to examinerelationships among knowledge, attitudes, motivation and computer use and satisfaction by nurses in the hospital setting. This is a replication study of Burkes' (1991) study. A questionnaire designed by Burkes (1991) will be used. The anticipated sample of 600 nurses will be selected from all nurses at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN. Anonymity and confidentiality will be ensured. Findings will identify factors that influence nurses' computer use and satisfaction. Educational programs can be designed to address the factors that influence computer use and satisfaction of nurses in the hospital setting.
