Graduates of nursing programs are required to pass the NCLEX-RN exam to practice as professional nurses. The Nurse Entrance Test (NET) and Pre-RN exam grades have been identified as predictors of success on NCLEX-RN utilizing the Educational Resources, Inc. (ERI) Total Testing package (Sayles, Shelton & Powell, 2003). The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between students' performance on NET and Pre-RN exams to success on the NCLEX-RN. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) criteria is the framework. The population will be drawn from all nursing students at IPFW in Indiana who graduated from the baccalaureate nursing program between 2001 and 2006. The projected sample will be 200 students' records including the following demographic information: gender, age, race, year of graduation, GPA, NET scores and Pre-RN exam scores. Scores on the State Board of Nursing (NCLEX-RN) will also be recorded on a data collection sheet. All records will be reported as group data. Findings will provide information for faculty at IPFW regarding predictive variables for success on NCLEX-RN.
