Abstract:
The effectiveness of any rehabilitation program can only be determined after an adequate time period has passed. It is for this reason that patients were called back after they had fully recovered from a medial meniscectomy. The only way to evaluate the success of their recovery was to compare the operated and non-operated legs to see if the strength and function had returned to a normal level.Through the years, various rehabilitation programs have been used, each hoping to help the patient return to his regular activities as rapidly and effectively as possible. One of the biggest differences has been the introduction of supervised training programs. Whereas patients were once sent home with the responsibility of recuperating themselves, they can now be sent to a facility with updated equipment and trained personnel to monitor their progress and the regularity of their exercise. The objective of this study was to determine whether those who participated in a supervised rehabilitation program gained any advantage in the degree of their recovery over those who attempted to rehabilitate themselves.
