Abstract:
This goal of my thesis is create a magazine for students who are studying abroad in Ireland. Topics included in the departmental pages are basic information such as the type of currency the country uses, spots to visit while on vacation, an abridged history of Ireland, cultural icons that make the country unique and tips to getting ready for the visit. There are two features in the magazine. Each feature looks at Ireland from a personal perspective. One is from an American who traveled to Ireland for the first time, while the second is from a native Dubliner who writes on his homeland. Each of these sections is designed to facilitate readers by informing them of topics of which they should be aware.What makes my magazine different than other travel guides, is that it is aimed at college students. Therefore, optics are geared to what a college student should know or would be interested in knowing about Ireland. It is not intended to be a replacement for other travel books that are on the market. My intention was to give students a brief look at the country where they are going.
