dc.description.abstract The basis of any knowledge is what came before, and in order to understand a complex idea you must first understand the basics. The basics of electricity were primarily discovered by the observations of Benjamin Franklin, who is largely publicly known for his diplomatic works. To know where Franklin's work began, I looked at the life of Franklin before he began work on electricity and the work done in electricity before Franklin began his work. Then I looked at Franklin's experiments through his own writings to discover what is said to be the foundation of modern electric physics.
