Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of Borrelia lonestari and Ehrlichia chaffeensis in the tick vector, Amblyomma americanum. Ticks were collected from four different sites located in three counties in southern Indiana. Some ticks were put into pools, while others were tested individually. These ticks were tested by nested PCR. The results show that B. lonestari and E. chaffeensis are present in the tick vector A. americanum.
