dc.description.abstract |
The series of experiments described here was done in an attempt to study the reaction of diphenylphosphine with the cis isomer of variously substituted cinnamolutriles. This discussion begins with the synthesis of the cinnamonitriles and how they are characterized using various instruments. Also, the characterization of the diphenylphosphine is described. Next; the method of separation of the two isomers of the cinnamonitrile is illustrated. Lastly, the results of the diphenylphosphine addition to p-chlorocinnamonitrile is discussed. |
