Abstract:
This thesis involves the total synthesis of three analogs of lavendamycin, a chemotherapeutic agent: 7-N-chloroacetyldemethyllavendamycin Amide, 7-Nchloroacetyldemethyllavendamycin Amide of Pyrrolidine, and 7-Nbu ldemethyllavendamycin Amide of Piperazine. This research is part of an ongoing project involving synthesis and structure-activity relationship studies of various analogs of lavendamycin. These analogs contain the amide functional group in the C-2' position. The C-2' amides have proved to be very active anticancer agents.
