Abstract:
This thesis presents the results of a survey that was mailed to 200 companies who purchase transportation in one form or another. The purpose of the survey is to present an accurate representation of United States intermodal equipment users and what their perceptions are of the equipment. The next and last part of the thesis is an interpretation of the survey results. The results will be used to make recommendations to transportation companies regarding what type of equipment should be offered. In addition, if the shippers are saying things about the equipment based on a lack of knowledge, some recommendations will be made to help the sellers of transportation improve the shipper understanding of available equipment.
