Abstract:
The primary purpose of this analysis is to examine the chief rhetorical strategies of Ronald Reagan in his October 27, 1964 "A Time For Choosing" speech. To accomplish this goal the critic must first have a clear perspective of the speaker, his audience(s), and the social/political setting surrounding the event. With an understanding of the interrelated aspects of situation and the rhetorical strategies employed by the speaker, it should be possible to draw conclusions concerning the success or failure of Reagan's political rhetoric in his 1964 address.
