Abstract:
Increased use of computer-based technology in everyday activities has created a demand for stronger security for operators and users of systems. Often this security is in the form of algorithms, which make use of mathematical concepts. Algorithms alone, though, are not the solution. Government agencies, businesses, and individuals from the private sector are currently debating who should have what kind and how much control over the strength of encryption algorithms. The ideal resolution of this debate would incorporate equal input from each of the three groups.
