Abstract

This thesis on Reston, Virginia is limited to Reston's historical settlement, land ownership, and development. The land is traced through three centuries of ownership followed by a discussion of Reston's six developmental areas. Throughout the thesis are the feelings, goals, and dreams of Robert E. Simon, Reston's founder. It is these dreams and the realizations which make a place called Reston like no other.
