The Ball State Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology : a comprehensive history of the people and the place : an honors thesis [(HONRS 499)]

Abstract

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology has been a significant part of Ball State University since its beginnings in the 1970's. Due to significant changes in not only its practices but in the manner it has been directed, the department has seen itself through difficult and triumphant times, throughout its comparatively short history. With the assistance ofa number of professors currently still working for the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, this thesis was produced with the past, and the present in mind. While entitled "A Comprehensive History of the People and the Place," it is important to also keep in mind what societal and other contributing factors helped to make the department what it is today. This thesis was created to educate future students and staff on the history of the department, offering itself as a resource to those unfamiliar with its opportunities, while maintaining a written abridgment of its history.
