Abstract:
In creating my thesis project, I wanted to provide not only German students. but also pre-service and practicing German teachers a way to enhance listening. reading. and comprehension skills in the target language. Therefore, I've created a number of podcasts available via a website to anyone with Internet access. By making my project available to other German teachers, I hope to spread its worth past what I. myself will receive from working on it. I hope it will provide an insight into the German language- as well as the technology used in order to create this project. It's a way to bring learning into the "now." where students and teachers alike can hear the language in both everyday use. through the dialogues. as well as scripted. through literature's great works of art. I have compiled two fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm. "Rotkappchen " and "Frau Holley". as well as two short stories. "Das Brot" from Wolfgang Borchert and "Vor dem Gesetz from Franz Kafka. and three dialogues covering the topics of free-time activities. shopping. and restaurant interactions. Each of these podcasts has accompanying transcripts in both German and English as well as supplementary instructional activities. All can be found at the following website:http://reschroeder.iweb.bsu.edu/germanpodcasts
