Abstract:
This thesis examines several different aspects of the behavior of academic dishonesty. The beginning sections provide a broad overview of this growing dilemma including: factors, which constitute the behavior, prevalence, consequences of violation, and prevention techniques. The second portion addresses the impact of the Internet on academic dishonesty, taking into account the increasing use and availability of technology, which has made the practice of academic dishonesty a much easier pursuit. The final section addresses the issue of honor codes as a possible deterrent for academic dishonesty. The three sections combined provide a close examination of a growing epidemic which is plaguing college campuses around the world.
