Abstract:
A one month longitudinal field study was conducted with 27 bill collectors in an attempt to test the Congruence Model of job satisfaction (Barrett, 1979) and to establish possible originsof employee turnover. The results indicate that work satisfaction is positively correlated with cognitive task demands, cognitive closure, task facilitation, and internal rewards. These correlations are supportive of the Congruence Model (Barrett, 1979).Additional results indicate that turnover was primarily affected by satisfaction with work itself.
